PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND SCOPING

“Fast Track” Hydrodemolition is a method to quickly aid in the rehabilitation process of a bridge deck and is normally supplemented with a monolithically poured Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) surface. The key to the hydrodemolition process is that it ‘selectively removes’ only the deteriorated or delaminated concrete, leaving behind the sound concrete in place. The resulting surface is one that provides a profile that is very bondable for overlay adhesion.

Some of the advantages of hydrodemolition as a method of bridge deck preparation include:

  • Elimination of jackhammers from bridge decks, which cause micro-fracturing of the concrete deck.
  • Production – work is much faster than jackhammering. No need to sound the deck prior to start of work and the process is capable of demolishing large volumes of concrete in a short period of time. All work is accomplished with a programmable robot which completes the work in one pass of the total surface.
  • Quality is unmatched through surface preparation. The surface profile creates increased surface area for overlay bonding.
  • Savings to bridge owners (and tax payers) by providing quick long term repair and reducing road user costs. Also, a preserved bridge deck can extend the service life of the bridge for at least 25 more years.

SPECIFICATIONS:

A good preservation project is only as good as the specification that it is built around.  Let us help you develop the right specifications, for the right job.  Or, we can review your existing specifications and offer suggestions on how to improve it.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT:

Preservation projects can be stand-alone jobs or part of a larger package.   Agencies need a plan of attack.  Let us take a global look at your bridge inventory and help you figure out where you can best allocate your preservation dollars.

SCOPING AND ESTIMATING:

Need to know what to do or how much it is going to cost?  Experienced staff can help direct you to the right treatments, and also give you an idea of what the cost will be for your project.

QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTION:

Once the job is awarded, you need a reliable source to inspect the job and be assured the work that is done is of a high quality and according to the desired specifications.  We’ll work with the contractor from the pre-construction conference all the way through the final inspection to make sure the job is done right and you are satisfied.

CONSTRUCTION SERVICES:

If you are looking for that ideal contractor to do the work or supply the right materials, we have a connection to a network of high quality, specialty contractors who can perform the right service for your project.

NBI INSPECTION:

Deck inspection is our specialty, but maybe you need a certified bridge inspector to perform your mandated NBI inspections.  Regardless of if you need a general inspection, fracture critical inspection, underwater inspection, or some other special type of inspection, a highly experienced staff can inspect your bridge(s) for you and provide all the documentation and reports you need to be in compliance with federal guidelines.

PRESENTATIONS:

We can do a presentation for your group or conference.  Not just DOT’s, but consultants, contractors or other private or public entities can take advantage of this service to help us educate them and promote preservation.  This can even be done through “lunch & learn” settings.  We’ll come to you.  Or we can work to develop a webinar for your group.  PDH’s are also available.
